Natural gas is the cleanest burning alternative transportation fuel commercially available today and America has over a 100-year supply. Public and private fleet operators, as well as individuals, are transitioning to natural gas vehicles
(NGV's) – a proven clean technology that not only enhances air quality but also helps reduce our addictive dependence on foreign oil. Last year Americans paid foreign oil producers some $250 billion. Just imagine what that would do if spent here at home.

 

There are currently about 110,000 NGV’s in the U.S. (11 million worldwide) and more than 1,100 NGV fueling stations. Some 30 different manufacturers produce 100 models of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles and engines. Plus, compressed natural gas (CNG) to fuel those NGV’s costs about a third less than gasoline. Honda’s NGV – the Civic GX – is recognized by the U.S. EPA as the cleanest commercially available, internal-combustion vehicle on earth. Replacing a standard older vehicle with a new NGV reduces carbon monoxide by 70 to 90%, reduces nitrogen oxides by 75 to 95% and reduces carbon dioxide by 20 to 30%.
